"The WordMasters Challenge is a national competition for students in grades 3-8 which encourages growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning. Over 250,000 students, representing 4,400 school teams from 50 states, participated last year.
Unlike other language-arts contests, which emphasize punctuation and grammar, this competition addresses word-comprehension and logical abilities such as those measured for high school students by the SAT II English exam and AP English exam. Preparing for the Challenge helps students learn to think both analytically and metaphorically."

Mrs. Dingman's third grade is very excited to report:
* 640 third grade teams participated in the WordMasters Challenge this year
* 30,400 students participated on those third grade teams
* 955 third graders, out of the 30,400 participating, scored 18/20 on the final Challenge
* Of those 955 third grade students, FOUR OF THEM WERE FROM OUR CLASSROOM!!
